Augusta County Honors Band:

7th and 8th grade band students may opt to audition for the Augusta County Honors Band which is made up of students from Beverley Manor, S. Gordon Stewart, Stuarts Draft and Wilson Middle Schools.

Woodwind and brass students are required to memorize 7 major scales and their chromatic scale for the audition. They must also perform a prepared piece distributed by the Augusta County Band Directors Association (ACBDA)and sight-read.

Percussion students auditioning on mallets are required to memorize 7 major scales and their chromatic scale. They must also perform a prepared piece distributed by the ACBDA and sight-read.

Percussion students auditioning on snare are required to memorize 7 rudiments (open-closed-open) and perform a long roll and concert roll. They must also perform a prepared piece distributed by the ACBDA and sight-read.

Percussion students auditioning on timpani are required to perform a concert roll. They must also tune the timpani and perform a prepared piece distributed by the ACBDA and sight-read.

District V Honors Band:

7th and 8th grade band students may also opt to audition for the District V Honors Band which includes students from Augusta, Rockingham, Rockbridge, Bath, Page, Highland, Luray, Alleghany, Waynesboro, Staunton and Harrisonburg. Audition requirements are the same as those in the Augusta County Honors Band auditions, although students will have a different prepared piece and sight-reading selection.
